What
is an "Easter Egg"?
We
daily use many computer programs ( like IE,MS Word etc.). We feel that
we have explored almost all the facilities on these softwares. But there
is something almost everyone misses. They are the Easter Eggs. Easter
Eggs are amusing tidbits that programmers hide in their programs.
They may contain the details of the development team or something really
interesting...Not only computer softwares, even movies, music, books
or your wrist watch may have an easter egg.
I have included here some of the most popular easter eggs in the most
common softwares and OS. Try them out they are really interesting..
WINDOWS 98

1.
In the Windows directory go to "Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME"
2. Create a Shortcut for the file Weldata.exe by right clicking on the
file and selecting "Create Shortcut"
3. Right click on the newly created shortcut and select "Properties"
4. In the shortcut tab, add the following at the end (after putting
a space) of the Target edit box "You_are_a_real_rascal". This causes
the application WELDATA.EXE to be called with the argument 'You_are_a_real_rascal'
.
e.g.:The target should look like
"C:\WIN98\Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME\WELDATA.EXE"
You_are_a_real_rascal
5. Now in the "Run" combobox select "Minimized"
6. Click OK and double click the shortcut & ENJOY!

control panel - display click on screen savers tab select "3D Text"
click on settings in the graphics text box type "volcano". The screen
saver will show the names of volcanoes.

quotes in Windows XP
There
is a secret file in Windows XP called "quotes". In order to get there
you must be somewhat familiar with how to use Windows, simply open up
My Computer (explorer) and double click on your main drive (probably
C:) next navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc This is where
the quotes file is. Open the file named quotes in your favorite text
editor (notepad, MS Word, Emacs:p ) then look at the quotes put there
by the MS developers!

2. In the resulting dialog, click on the command tab.
3. In the Categories List, select Help.
4. Select "About Microsoft Visual Basic" in the Command List, and drag
it to any menu or the toolbar.
5. Right-click on the item you just dragged and rename it to "Show VB
Credits" (without quotes).
6. Then close the "Customize" dialog and click on the "Show VB Credits"
item.
